7th May 2010
I usually don’t blog about a wedding until all the images from the day are processed and uploaded to the client’s gallery – and being the lazy blogger that I am it can take another few days after that. Today I thought I would do things differently. Going through the images from yesterday’s wedding at St. Andrews in the Square, I felt a strong desire to share them. I think the buzz from the day is still there! What a fantastic day it was. Great location, friendly staff, wonderful couple and families.
Adrian and Katie met in Scotland although both are from across the Atlantic. It was an impressive accomplishment being able to have so many of their families taking part in the wedding, especially with the ongoing travel problems caused by the Eyjafjallajokul volcano (and a scarcity of taxis in Glasgow that afternoon!)
With such an effort to have everyone there, Adrian and Katie made full use of the time to have the wedding they wanted. The ceremony was conducted by Humanist Celebrant Jess Fitzgerald and with a break from tradition, Adrian walked in accompanied by his mother followed by best man and the groomsmen accompanying the bridesmaids before Katie herself with her father.
The bridal party were piped in and during the ceremony there was also some music courtesy of Adrian’s twin stepbrothers.
Following the ceremony we headed outside for some group photographs with the weather going from warm to cool, still to windy and sunny to overcast – and then back again within a few seconds. I could have spent all day taking photographs around the impressive former church building but weddings are not just about photography so a after a few shots of the bride and groom together it was back inside so they could mingle with their guests as they sipped champagne on the balcony.
The meal was preceded by speeches from the Groom, best Man and Bride’s father, who also sang a touching song for the newlyweds. The depth of emotion was palpable and there were plenty of tears of happiness.
As the venue staff cleared the dining tables, the guests returned to the balcony for the cutting of the cake before heading downstairs where the band were setting up for the first dance and ceilidh.
Congratulations to Adrian and Katie on their marriage and wishing them a long and happy life together.
